Qualifications

• JD or Master’s degree in behavioral health, psychology, social work, public administration, or related field preferred.
• Equivalent professional experience in administrative hearings, behavioral health systems, or quasi-judicial proceedings may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hearings for minors under LPS Act.
• Determine probable cause for continued detention.
• Inform minors of rights in a developmentally appropriate manner.
• Incorporate guardian or family participation as required.
• Maintain neutrality and independence in proceedings.
• Review documentation for completeness and legal sufficiency.
• Evaluate clinical/behavioral evidence within a developmental framework.
• Issue written determinations supported by evidence.
• Determin­ations are final at administrative level unless appealed.
• Coordinate hearing logistics with parties and maintain defensible records.

Education

JD or Master’s degree in behavioral health or related field
