Role Description

The Chief Special Procedures Technologist is a full-time, on-site role located in North Miami, FL, responsible for overseeing and coordinating special imaging and interventional procedures within the medical center. This role includes supervising technologists, scheduling and prioritizing procedures, and ensuring that all imaging and special procedures follow institutional protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The Chief Technologist collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff to prepare patients, set up equipment, and support complex diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. Daily responsibilities include monitoring equipment performance, assisting with quality assurance initiatives, maintaining accurate documentation, and contributing to workflow improvements. The role also involves mentoring staff, supporting training and competency assessments, and fostering a patient-centered, inclusive environment aligned with the Miller School’s mission.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong technical expertise in special procedures, such as advanced imaging, interventional radiology, or cardiology procedures, and be proficient in operating and troubleshooting related equipment.
• Candidates should possess leadership and supervisory skills, including team coordination, staff mentoring, performance feedback, and the ability to support a collaborative, respectful work environment.
• Candidates should possess solid knowledge of patient safety, radiation safety, infection control, and adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards in a clinical setting.
• Candidates should possess effective communication and interpersonal skills to work closely with multidisciplinary teams, explain procedures to patients, and document clinical activities clearly and accurately.
• Candidates should possess strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, including prioritizing multiple procedures, optimizing workflows, and contributing to continuous quality improvement.
• Relevant credentials such as ARRT or equivalent registration, state licensure as applicable, and completion of an accredited radiologic or special procedures technology program are highly beneficial.
• Previous experience in a hospital or academic medical center, particularly in special procedures or interventional suites, and experience in a lead or senior technologist role are preferred.
