Job summary

Outpost Space is seeking a visionary Vice President of Software to own the full software function. You will lead strategy, architecture, and execution across flight, ground, and infrastructure software, reporting to the CTO and partnering with avionics, GN&C, and AI&T teams.

You will build a scalable software organization, drive development processes, and align executive priorities to deliver reliable, high-performance systems for orbital logistics and spaceflight missions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• 12+ years of software engineering, with 5+ years in executive leadership.
• Proven success leading software teams at high-growth technology or aerospace companies.
• Deep experience across flight software, ground software, and infrastructure.
• Exceptional technical and strategic instincts, with strong architecture judgment.
• Experience managing engineering teams and driving software development processes.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with an ability to inspire teams and align stakeholders.
• Passion for frontier technology, space, and building something from the ground up.

Responsibilities

• Own Outpost's software strategy and roadmap, from flight software to ground systems.
• Build and scale a high-performing software engineering organization.
• Drive architecture decisions balancing reliability, performance, and speed of iteration.
• Partner closely with avionics, GN&C, and AI&T teams on software integration.
• Establish software development best practices, testing, and release processes.
• Collaborate with executive leadership on technical strategy and prioritization.
• Drive metrics and reporting to track software delivery and system reliability.
• Build and lead a high-performing software team as we scale.
