The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Chief Software Architect to join the Model-Based Software team located in Berkeley, MO. This position will support the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

As a Chief Software Architect, you will play a critical role in shaping the company's product architecture. This is an exciting opportunity to work on Backend Architecture, Front-End Architecture, and Large-Scale Software System Architecture.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the architecture, design, development, analysis, and maintenance of large-scale software systems that meet industry, customer, and quality standards.
  2. Partner with stakeholders to define system requirements and translate them into software requirements and models with clear traceability.
  3. Conduct code reviews to ensure alignment with requirements and standards.
  4. Monitor and review testing, verification processes, and issue resolution.
  5. Review product and process alignment with project plans and industry standards.
  6. Research and oversee implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and regulatory changes.
  7. Manage software project and supplier activities.
  8. Provide technical oversight, guide team design and operation of production systems.
  9. Engage in architectural discussions, influence roadmaps, and lead key projects.
  10. Resolve complex technical issues and drive innovations to improve system performance and resilience.
  11. Evaluate emerging technologies and develop innovative solutions.
  12. Mentor and develop engineers across all levels.
  13. Lead projects from inception to completion with minimal supervision.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret US Security clearance (Post-Start).
  • 8+ years in large-scale software system architecture, design, and development.
  • 10+ years of software development experience.
  • Understanding of microservices, client-server, event-driven architecture, DDD, and other modern styles.
  • 5+ years experience with databases (SQL and NoSQL), caching, and data pipelines.
  • Proficiency with programming languages such as Go, Node.js, Java, or Python.
  • Familiarity with Agile processes.

Preferred Qualifications include a BSc degree, cloud experience, large dataset handling, API development, and leadership in digital systems.

Additional details: 10% travel, drug-free workplace, comprehensive benefits, salary range $156,400 - $211,600, application deadline June 13, 2025.

This role requires meeting export control and security clearance requirements, U.S. citizenship, and is based in the U.S. with no visa sponsorship available. It is a 1st shift position. Boeing is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
