Job summary

Redstone Commodity Search seeks a Chief Risk Officer to lead risk management, hedging and market analysis for grain and commodities in North Dakota. You will oversee client merchandising, hedge execution, and logistics, while shaping strategies with senior teams.

The successful candidate brings a Series 3 license or ability to obtain one, 3+ years in cash grain merchandising, and strong communication with stakeholders. Relocation to Bismarck is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, agricultural economics, or related field.
• 3+ years in cash grain merchandising.
• Series 3 license or ability to obtain one.
• Familiarity with cash grain trading, futures and options, and risk management strategies.
• Located in Bismarck or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Shape market outlook, devise hedging strategies, and assess key indicators in grain markets.
• Create new business opportunities and strategic alliances to enhance market presence.
• Oversee merchandising for key clients, including hedges, cash trades, logistics and client communications.
• Formulate strategies, monitor trends and execute required hedges; analyse grain P&L.
• Support farm marketing, trading and logistics; work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Key Responsibilities / Tasks

• Facilitate internal discussions to shape market outlook, devise hedging strategies, and assess key fundamental, seasonal, and technical indicators. Possess a deep understanding of grain market dynamics and risk management tools.
• Focus on creating new business opportunities and strategic alliances that enhance market presence. Demonstrate strong communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders and explaining risk strategies.
• Oversee professional merchandising for key clients, including crafting marketing plans, executing hedges and cash trades, managing logistics, and maintaining client communications. Exhibit excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Formulate strategies, monitor market trends and execute required hedges. Skilled in analysing grain P&L components and managing data with precision.
• Support the management of farm marketing, trading, and logistics operations as necessary. Capable of working independently under pressure, handling multiple priorities effectively, and knowledgeable about futures, spread, basis, and logistics risks.

Key Qualifications / Experience

• Bachelor's degree in business, agricultural economics, or a related field; or an equivalent mix of education and practical work experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in cash grain merchandising.
• Series 3 license or the capability to obtain one.
• Familiarity with cash grain trading, futures and options, and risk management strategies.
• Must be located in Bismarck / willingness to relocate.
