Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Chief Therapist in the Radiation Oncology department at RWJ Somerset. This salaried, day-shift leadership role oversees all department functions, ensures regulatory compliance, and coordinates treatment planning, dosimetry, simulations and patient care.

The Chief Therapist will supervise staff, mentor students, manage scheduling, and collaborate with physicians, physicists and nurses to deliver precise radiation therapy while maintaining safety and quality

Qualifications

• Graduate of Accredited Radiation Oncology Technology Program.
• Valid NJ State License as a Radiation Oncology Therapist.
• Registered or Registry eligible by the ARRT.
• Maintains required BLS Heart Saver/Health Care Provider through AHA.
• Five years hospital experience in Radiation Oncology supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily department operations and staff scheduling.
• Coordinate reception, registration, scheduling, billing, simulations and treatments.
• Supervise and train students and allocate staff.
• Ensure treatment plans align with oncologist prescriptions.
• Operate and monitor treatment machines and imaging systems.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Provide patient education on treatment procedures and side effects.
