EPAM Systems Inc is seeking a Chief Python Engineer to lead architecture and delivery of an AI-powered financial assistant platform. You will drive reliability, security, and performance in a small high-competence team.

You’ll build production-grade Python services with FastAPI, mentor engineers, and shape evaluation, testing, and monitoring processes across the product lifecycle. Experience with cloud platforms and security practices is essential.

We are looking for a Chief Python Engineer to build a next-generation AI-powered financial assistant platform and need a highly autonomous senior engineer to shape architecture, quality, and delivery. You will work in a small, high-competence team to rapidly iterate on chat, reporting, and bespoke interfaces for client workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end architectures for an AI-powered financial assistant platform
• Build production-grade Python services and APIs using FastAPI
• Define evaluation strategies and test datasets to measure model quality and regressions
• Implement monitoring and failure analysis to detect and triage AI issues in production
• Establish security controls for sensitive data, access, and prompt-injection risks
• Optimize systems for quality, latency, reliability, and cost tradeoffs
• Partner with business users to gather requirements and validate solutions through rapid iteration
• Review, test, and validate AI-generated code from coding agents and assisted workflows
• Drive engineering standards for reliability, maintainability, and code quality
• Coordinate delivery in a low-formality environment with minimal process overhead

Requirements

• 7+ years of Python experience delivering production systems
• Senior leadership experience driving technical direction and mentoring engineers
• Strong system design skills for scalable, secure services
• Deep FastAPI experience or strong proficiency with equivalent Python frameworks
• Expert AI evaluation and quality engineering skills including automated evals and regression testing
• Advanced AI security knowledge including privacy, access control, and prompt-injection mitigations
• High autonomy and self-governance skills with loosely defined problem spaces
• Strong product judgment and edge-case thinking in fast-moving environments
• High quality standards for reliability, maintainability, and observability
• Advanced English proficiency (C1, Advanced)
