Job summary

EPAM Systems Inc. is seeking an AI Platform Software Engineering Manager to build a next-generation AI-powered financial assistant platform and to lead a hands-on senior engineer in end-to-end production systems development.

You will design and implement end-to-end AI systems, build FastAPI-powered services, and push towards reliable, secure, and scalable deployment with strong collaboration across business users.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with Python.
• Strong FastAPI experience building production APIs.
• Experience leading technical direction with business users.
• Ability to design architecture from high-level problem statements.

You will work in a small, highly capable team to iterate quickly from problem discovery through design, delivery, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end systems for an AI-powered assistant from loosely defined goals
• Build Python services and APIs using FastAPI for production workloads
• Deliver production implementations that balance quality, latency, reliability, and cost
• Define evaluation approaches for AI features using automated tests, datasets, and regression suites
• Implement monitoring and failure analysis workflows to validate AI behavior in production
• Apply security controls for AI systems including guardrails, auditability, and safe data handling
• Collaborate with business users to gather requirements, validate assumptions, and refine solutions
• Review and validate AI-generated code from coding agents to ensure correctness and safety
• Drive technical decisions in a low-formality environment and keep delivery moving
• Maintain a high bar for reliability, security, and maintainability across the codebase

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with Python or comparable languages
• Strong FastAPI experience building production APIs and services
• Strong forward deployed engineering experience working closely with business users
• Proven leadership skills to drive technical direction and uphold engineering standards
• Strong system design skills to define architecture from high-level problem statements
• Strong AI evaluation and quality engineering skills including automated evals and regression testing
• Strong AI security knowledge including data privacy, access control, and prompt-injection defenses
• Strong autonomy and self-governance skills to execute with minimal process
• High quality mindset focused on reliability, maintainability, and production readiness
• Advanced English proficiency (C1, Advanced) for clear collaboration and documentation
