Morningstar Credit Ratings, LLC is seeking a Head of Architecture in Chicago to lead enterprise-wide technology strategy, shaping platform, data, cloud, and security initiatives. You will coach a team of six architects, partner with Product, Engineering, and Security, and drive modernization, reducing technical debt while ensuring scalability and resilience.

The role emphasizes AI-enabled capabilities and governance.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive technology leadership experience in enterprise/ platform/ solution architecture roles within global organizations.
• At least 5+ years leading architecture organizations or transformation initiatives with hands-on cloud/data/platform governance.
• Proven success in enterprise architecture and modernization strategies across cloud, data, and platform domains.
• Ability to influence executive stakeholders and partner across Technology, Product, Operations, Security, Data, and Business functions.
• Experience leading high‑performing architecture teams with coaching and succession planning.
• Proven governance, standards, and decision-making frameworks balancing innovation with risk management.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the target-state Direct Platform architecture aligned to business priorities and growth objectives.
• Develop multi-year architecture and modernization roadmaps to reduce debt and improve scalability and resiliency.
• Establish architecture principles, standards, and cloud strategy across applications, data, infrastructure, and platform services.
• Lead evaluation of existing systems, identify consolidation opportunities, and adopt cloud-native capabilities.
• Serve as final escalation point for major architectural decisions, balancing speed, cost, and customer experience.
• Monitor architecture success metrics tied to business outcomes like time-to-market and platform reliability.
