Job summary
Boone County Planning Commission in Kentucky seeks an Executive Director to provide strategic leadership and professional expertise to governing boards and city/county partners. The role leads staff, oversees planning, zoning, and historic preservation while guiding long-range economic development initiatives.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience with stakeholder engagement, public meetings, and organizational leadership; a bachelor’s in planning is required, with a master’s and AICP
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of planning principles, practices, and trends.
- Experience leading a joint city-county planning commission or similar.
- Experience with stakeholder engagement and public meetings.
- Bachelor’s degree in Urban/Community Planning with 12+ years of experience; Master’s plus is a plus; AICP desired.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Boone County Planning Commission and engage with stakeholders and elected officials.
- Oversee planning, zoning, subdivision review, historic preservation, and related programs.
- Develop and implement long- and short-range planning initiatives.
- Prepare recommendations, reports, presentations, and organizational updates for boards.
