Job summary

Morgan County is seeking a Planning and Development Director to lead the Planning and Development Department, overseeing policy implementation, ordinance development, and long-range planning. This full-time role requires strategic leadership, budget management, and coordination with boards and county leadership.

The position requires a degree in urban planning or a related field and at least five years of relevant experience; AICP certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in urban planning or related field; Master's preferred.
• Five years of progressively responsible experience in development codes, planning policies, and rural environments.
• AICP Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates work in the planning division; serves as lead planning advisor to the Morgan County Commission.
• Reviews development applications for conformity to long-range plans and current County Ordinances.
• Attends evening meetings of Morgan County Planning Commission and the County Commission as directed.
• Responsible for recruitment, selection, retention, and development of department employees; manages staff performance.
