Job summary

Ketchikan Gateway Borough is seeking a Director of Planning and Community Development to lead planning, zoning, and lands programs. The role oversees department staff, collaborates with other Borough departments and agencies, and acts as principal planner and zoning administrator.

This at-will position advances community development initiatives and advises the Borough Manager, Planning Commission and Assembly.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of organization and administration principles and staff evaluation.
• Ability to train, supervise and evaluate staff; prepare clear reports.
• Experience in planning, zoning, land-use regulations and public process.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organize Borough planning, zoning and lands programs.
• Supervise Planning Department personnel and coordinate with other departments.
• Serve as Administrative Official, Zoning Administrator, and Planning Official as required.
• Develop department goals, policies and procedures; manage contracts and consultants.
