Job summary

The MacArthur Foundation seeks an accomplished, strategic executive to serve as Managing Director, People & Culture, reporting to the President and guiding all people and culture initiatives. You will lead talent strategy, organizational effectiveness, and employee engagement while partnering with senior leadership to advance the Foundation’s mission.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive human resources leadership experience.
• Experience in senior enterprise-level roles; nonprofit/philanthropic sector is a plus.
• Ability to lead People & Culture teams and drive organizational change.
• Experience aligning people practices with mission, values, and strategy.

Responsibilities

• Provide vision, strategy, and leadership for all People & Culture initiatives.
• Advise President and senior leaders on workforce planning and organizational change.
• Strengthen staff engagement, inclusion, and culture across the Foundation.
• Oversee HR policies, compliance, and governance in partnership with GC.
• Direct talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning.
• Lead total rewards, benefits, and compensation strategy.
• Drive learning, development, and leadership growth across the organization.
• Oversee internal communications and cross-functional initiatives.
