This is an exempt position responsible for 24-hour technical and supervisory work in the operation and maintenance of water treatment plants. Oversees administrative, technical, and supervisory work in managing and daily operation of Water Treatment Plants and laboratory. Work is performed under limited supervision of the Utilities Director, Operations Manager, or designee. This position is essential; the employee is required to work extended hours during and after emergencies.

Essential Job Functions

1. Provides technical support and guidance to treatment plant personnel.
2. Interprets operating data, makes minor modifications, and implements corrective procedures during emergencies; ensures policy compliance and informs supervisors.
3. Supervises operation and maintenance of laboratory and treatment equipment, including repairs.
4. Reviews daily operational logs and manages requisitions for personnel, materials, and equipment.
5. Plans and conducts site inspections to ensure regulatory compliance.
6. Ensures safety procedures are followed and supervises safety inspections.
7. Maintains records of chemicals used and water treated.
8. Prepares monthly operational and compliance reports.
9. Assists in program development, SOP updates, staff training, and budget management.
10. Performs employee evaluations, scheduling, and disciplinary actions.
11. Participates in new employee orientation and training.
12. In absence of the Operations Manager, assists in duties as required.

Additional Job Functions

• Performs other related work as required.

Minimum Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Five years' experience as a Plant Operator.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements.
• Class "A" Water Treatment license (Florida DEP).
• Ability to obtain a Class "B" CDL within one year of employment.

Preferred Requirements

• Two years supervisory experience.
• SEDA certification in Membrane Technology or ability to obtain within one year.
• Two years membrane experience.

• $100/pay period incentive.
• $1000 payout in June 2025 (prorated).
