Job summary

Port of Vancouver USA in Vancouver, WA is hiring a Chief Operations Officer (COO) to lead port-wide operations and strategic initiatives. The role reports to the CEO and oversees multiple departments to ensure safe, compliant, and financially responsible execution of all Port operations.

The COO will drive efficiency, capitalize on growth opportunities, and partner with the Board and stakeholders to align with long-term goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a relevant field.
• Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible operational leadership; 7 in senior exec roles.
• License/Certification: valid driver’s license; ability to obtain TWIC card on hire.
• Excellent written and spoken English; strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operational activities to ensure safe, efficient, compliant, and financially responsible execution of port operations.
• Supervise Directors of Environmental Services, Operations, Facilities, Engineering & Project Delivery, and Operations Program Manager.
• Report to CEO; translate strategic objectives into operational execution and drive continuous improvement.
• Lead cross-functional teams to improve efficiency, capacity, reliability, and customer service.
• Oversee capital projects and asset management; ensure assets support safe, reliable port ops.
• Foster leadership development, labor relations, and organizational effectiveness across areas.
