Job summary

New York University Stern School of Business seeks a strategic Chief Operating Officer to partner with the Dean and senior leadership. The COO will lead core infrastructure, aligning finance, facilities, IT, and administration with Stern's mission and growth.

Reporting to the Dean, this role shapes multi-year strategy, oversees budgets over $100M, and mentors a high-performing team to advance teaching, research, and administrative excellence in a world-class business school.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree; MBA strongly preferred; 15+ years in leadership in finance, administration, operations and IT.
• 10+ years in a senior management role with budgets > $100M.
• Experience with fund-based accounting, compliance and risk management.
• Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Experience in higher education or complex organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations across finance, budgeting, property development, capital projects, facilities, IT and emergency response.
• Shape multi-year financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting and fiscal stewardship.
• Ensure infrastructure supports 6,000+ students and 600 faculty/staff.
• Lead technology and information resources strategy; build and mentor a high-performing team.
