Job description

Role snapshot:

Our client is appointing a Chief Operating Officer to lead a business-wide transformation and build a scalable, efficient operating model.

Title

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Location

Fully remote, United States; Texas.

Reports to

Chief Executive Officer

Compensation: circa $375,000 - $550,000 Total Compensation

Our client is an established Financial Services business. It has built a strong market position and a loyal customer base, and is now entering its next phase of growth.

To get there, the leadership team is investing in how the business runs: simplifying processes, modernizing systems and building an operating model that can scale without adding cost or complexity at the same rate. This has the board-level support to make meaningful change.

The opportunity

The COO will be the CEO's partner in turning strategy into execution, owning the transformation agenda end to end. This is a senior, high-visibility mandate with real authority to reshape how the business operates.

The role exists because growth has outpaced the current operating model. Processes, systems and ways of working that served the business well at its current size now need redesigning for the next stage. The successful candidate will diagnose where value is being lost, set a clear transformation roadmap, and deliver measurable gains in efficiency, quality and margin.

As a member of the executive leadership team, the COO will also help shape the company's longer-term strategy and culture, working closely with the CFO, commercial leadership and the board.

Key responsibilities
Transformation and change leadership
  • Lead the design and delivery of a business-wide transformation program, from diagnosis through to embedded change.
  • Define the target operating model, including structure, governance, decision rights and operating cadence.
  • Sequence and prioritize change initiatives, managing interdependencies, risk and the pace of change the business can absorb.
  • Act as the visible leader of change, bringing employees with the program through clear communication and engagement.
Operational efficiency and performance
  • Identify and remove inefficiencies, bottlenecks and duplicated effort across functions.
  • Standardize and simplify core processes, driving continuous improvement as a habit rather than a project.
  • Establish a KPI framework and performance dashboards that give the executive team a single, reliable view of the business.
  • Deliver measurable improvements in cost-to-serve, productivity, quality and customer outcomes.
Technology, data and automation
  • Partner with technology leadership to modernize systems and platforms that underpin operations.
  • Identify where automation and AI can remove manual work and improve decision-making, and lead adoption responsibly.
  • Improve the quality and visibility of operational data.
Financial and commercial stewardship
  • Own the operating budget and contribute to P&L performance, working with the CFO on planning, forecasting and investment cases.
  • Ensure operational capacity and capability keep pace with commercial commitments and growth plans.
  • Manage key vendor and partner relationships to deliver value and resilience.
People and culture
  • Build, lead and develop a high‑performing operations leadership team.
  • Embed accountability, clear ownership and a performance culture across the business.
  • Lead effectively in a remote and distributed environment, setting the rhythms that keep teams aligned.
