Job description

FedGeek has a different kind of culture. We value passion, collaboration, creativity, and action. We hold ourselves to a higher standard and bring a rare energy and commitment to our projects. We support multiple agencies across the federal landscape and deliver specialized program management, application development, science and technology services. We are on an incredibly exciting trajectory of rapid, phenomenal growth, and we’re looking for a vision-driven Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our executive leadership team and help steward our next chapter.

If you are a passionate operational leader who loves turning big ideas into seamless execution, creating high-performing team cultures, and navigating fast-scaling environments with enthusiasm and strategic grace...we would love to meet you!

As our COO, you will partner directly with our CEO to help deliver on our company’s vision, empower our vibrant teams, and craft the operational foundation that allows our rapid expansion to thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Empower & Lead: Partner closely with department heads and team leads to foster an inclusive, highly collaborative, and energized workplace where everyone feels supported and empowered to do their best work.
  • Fuel Our Rapid Growth: Build, scale, and refine agile operational systems, workflows, and infrastructure designed to support our accelerating growth.
  • Turn Vision into Reality: Collaborate with the CEO to transform strategic vision into clear, actionable roadmaps and inspiring team goals.
  • Measure What Matters: Establish clear, meaningful metrics (KPIs) to celebrate wins, track performance, and continuous process improvements across departments.
  • Financial & Operational Stewardship: Work alongside our finance team to optimize resource allocation, manage operational budgets, and ensure our fast growth remains healthy and sustainable.
  • Promote Cross-Functional Harmony: Break down departmental silos by fostering transparent communication across operations, sales, product, marketing, and customer care.
  • Ensure Security & Excellence: Maintain high standards of operational compliance, risk management, and organizational safety.
Required Qualifications
  • Experienced Leader: 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, including 3–5 years in a senior executive role (e.g., COO, VP of Operations) within a fast-growing environment.
  • Industry Experience: Prior experience in the government contracting world
  • People-First Mindset: You are an empathetic mentor and clear communicator who knows how to inspire teams and cultivate a warm, positive work culture.
  • Growth Enthusiast: You thrive in dynamic, fast-paced settings and view rapid scaling as an exciting challenge rather than a hurdle.
  • Strategic Thinker & Problem Solver: You blend big-picture strategic foresight with hands-on, data-driven operational problem-solving.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, or related field required (MBA or advanced degree is a bonus, though practical leadership experience shines brightest!).
