Position Summary:

Vista Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our executive leadership team. The COO will be responsible for the efficient daily operations of the hospital, managing a diverse portfolio that includes clinical, allied health, ambulatory, in-patient, out-patient, and support services. This role plays a key part in aligning operations with organizational strategy and ensuring superior patient care, financial performance, and workforce engagement.

The COO will serve as a key advisor to the CEO and will act on their behalf in their absence. This individual will be instrumental in fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation across the health system.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee day-to-day operations across multiple hospital departments.

• Direct strategic initiatives to drive growth, improve quality, and enhance patient and staff satisfaction.

• Ensure alignment of operational activities with Vista Medical Center's mission and strategic plan.

• Supervise department heads and ensure operational efficiency in clinical and support service areas.

• Collaborate with medical staff and other leaders to develop integrated, high-quality, and cost-effective programs.

• Analyze financial and performance data to support informed decision-making and performance improvement.

• Represent the hospital in community relations, board meetings, and health system leadership functions.

• Develop and implement business strategies to expand market share and strengthen competitive positioning.

• Facilitate effective communication and decision-making within a matrixed healthcare environment.

• Support outreach, partnership, and referral strategies to build a robust, geographically dispersed care network.

• Promote and uphold Vista Health System's 12 Standards of Behavior to ensure a positive work and care environment.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), or related field required.

Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years in a senior-level hospital operations or healthcare executive role.

• Proven track record of managing complex hospital departments and driving organizational performance.

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.

• Financial acumen and the ability to analyze complex data for performance improvement.

• Demonstrated success in strategic planning, service line growth, and operations management.

• Experience with hospital systems, information technology, and compliance standards.

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

• Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including staff, physicians, and community leaders.

Certifications:

• FACHE certification preferred.

Work Environment:

• Position requires frequent walking and standing, with occasional lifting and pushing.

• Must be able to handle emergency situations, occasional irregular hours, and wear protective equipment as needed.

• Exposure to infectious diseases and patient care settings may occur.
