Job summary

Decatur Utilities is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead the daily operations of Electric, Natural Gas, Water, and Wastewater services in Decatur, AL. Reporting to the General Manager/CEO, the COO will drive safety, reliability, and customer-focused performance across all utility segments.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years in progressive utility operations, strong leadership, and a commitment to the community. Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's is preferred.

Qualifications

• A leader with at least 10 years of progressive utility operations experience.
• A strong communicator who values collaboration and integrity.
• Proven ability to guide teams through both day to day operations and big picture strategy.
• A leader aligned with DU's values and committed to serving the people of Decatur.
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.

We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our leadership team and guide the daily operations of our Electric, Natural Gas, Water, and Wastewater services. Reporting to the General Manager / CEO, this position plays a vital role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and quality of the services that impact every home, business, and school in Decatur.
