Job summary

Decatur Utilities (DU) is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead daily operations across Electric, Natural Gas, Water, and Wastewater services in Decatur. Reporting to the General Manager/CEO, this role emphasizes safety, reliability, and community impact in service of more than 27,000 electric customers, 13,000 gas customers, 26,000 water customers, and 21,000 wastewater customers.

The COO will guide strategy, capital projects, and long-term planning while fostering a culture of integrity,

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of progressive utility operations experience.
• Bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree is preferred.
• Strong communicator who values collaboration and integrity.
• Proven ability to guide teams through day-to-day operations and long-term strategy.
