Job summary

The role requires MD or DO with Maine license and board certification, strong leadership and communication skills, and a track record of improving surgical outcomes.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with active Maine medical license and board certification.
• Demonstrated excellence in clinical leadership and patient safety.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in matrix structures.
• Willingness to attend continuing education in medicine.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the surgical department and medical staff.
• Develop and implement departmental goals, policies, and quality initiatives.
• Ensure safe, high-quality surgical care and patient safety.
• Oversee budgeting, staffing, and financial performance.
• Recruit, mentor, evaluate, and retain surgeons and surgical personnel.
• Collaborate with hospital executives on strategic planning.
• Promote research, innovation, and continuing medical education within the department.
