Job summary

talentpluto partners with a seed-stage education technology company building a data-driven platform for college admissions. We are hiring a Chief of Staff to work directly with the CEO and own critical company initiatives in a high-trust, ambiguity-friendly environment.

This role drives hiring, operating cadence, cross-functional execution, and special projects, with potential to grow into broader operational leadership as the team scales. Onsite in NYC with some travel.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in analytical/execution-focused environments such as consulting, investment banking, or business operations.
• Startup experience preferred or ability to operate in fast-moving, resource-constrained settings.
• Familiarity with the VC/fundraising ecosystem; no visa sponsorship needed for the role.
• Exceptional communication: clear, concise, and professional.
• High ownership, urgency, and bias-to-action; able to create structure where none exists.
• Ability to coordinate work across multiple stakeholders and teams.
• Authorized to work in the United States; onsite in NYC.
• Some travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the CEO's right-hand partner to drive execution on the company's top priorities.
• Own and scale core Chief of Staff functions with potential expansion of scope as the company grows.
• Lead hiring, recruiting, and talent initiatives to build the team.
• Liaise with external partners such as legal counsel, advisors, and vendors.
• Act as a SWAT team for cross-functional business problems; structure plans and drive outcomes.
• Partner with the product team to shape what gets built and why.
• Build operating rhythms, ownership, and accountability across a flat organization.
• Support strategic workstreams including fundraising and market-facing initiatives.
