Botetourt County is seeking the Chief of Fire and EMS to oversee all operational and administrative aspects of Fire, EMS and Emergency Preparedness/Management. The role directs both career and volunteer services, develops policy, and ensures efficient protection of lives and property in emergencies.

You will coordinate with local, state and federal agencies, manage the department budget, and lead public safety communications and training programs, reporting to the County Administrator.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, Emergency Management, Public Administration, Business Administration preferred; Associates degree in related fields.
• Fire Officer III required; Fire Officer IV and Executive Fire Officer preferred.
• EMT certification required; Paramedic preferred.
• Ten years of professional fire protection or emergency management experience.
• Field response and incident command experience required.
• Knowledge of grants and CAD/EMD systems and EMS regulations.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and communicate complex concepts clearly.
