Job summary

The State of Maryland's Department of Labor seeks a Chief of Digital Services to lead the FAMLI Division's digital program. You will supervise Directors of Product, Engineering, and Design, steer the digital strategy, and ensure alignment with state priorities and public service goals.

This full-time, high-impact role requires experience building enterprise digital visions, leading cross-functional teams, and delivering iterative, user-centered solutions in a government context.

Qualifications

• Experience building enterprise digital services vision and strategy.
• Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on a vision.
• Strong decision-making and prioritization skills.
• Experience guiding agile projects (scrum/kanban) in complex programs.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight for FAMLI's digital strategy and priorities.
• Ensure timely delivery of digital products in an agile, greenfield program.
• Lead the Digital Services team and maintain a cohesive culture and staff development.
• Oversee transitions from vendor-led to state-owned digital practices post-launch.
• Represent the digital services across MDOL, FAMLI, and IT departments.
• Make critical tradeoffs shaping digital strategy and public service delivery.
