Job summary

NextGen Federal Systems is seeking a Chief Modeling, Simulation and Analysis (MS&A) Engineer to lead our engineering efforts in either Dayton OH, Aurora CO, or Huntsville AL. You will define strategy, lead interdisciplinary teams, and drive mission analyses across missile, space, IAMD, and defense domains.

You will develop analytical roadmaps, perform trade studies, and present results to government customers and leadership. Strong technical breadth in MS&A and leadership is required.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a technical discipline such as Aerospace, Systems, Electrical, CS, Physics or Math.
  • 10+ years in systems engineering, modeling and simulation, or mission engineering.
  • Led teams on missile/space/weapon-system modeling and analysis.
  • Experience building system- and mission-level simulations for decisions.
  • Experience in missile dynamics, GNC, engagement analysis, orbital mechanics, radar and sensor performance.
  • Experience with Agile/DevSecOps environments and cross-government collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Define technical strategy and analytical approach for MS&A activities.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams of engineers and mission analysts.
  • Develop roadmaps and MS&A priorities from objectives and requirements.
  • Present analytical results and trade studies to government leadership.
  • Establish MS&A best practices, workflows, and tools.
  • Create integrated workflows linking models to evaluate mission performance.
  • Automate scenario generation, model execution, data processing, and visualization.
  • Lead modeling of missile, space, IAMD, and advanced weapon systems.
  • Develop models for trajectories, engagement geometry, RF/EO/IR, and sensors.
  • Lead DOE, Monte Carlo analyses, and trade-space exploration.
  • Ensure validation/verification and credibility of analytical results.
  • Oversee a multi-tenant digital engineering environment with various tools.
  • Define APIs and interfaces to connect models and data sources.
  • Containerize, deploy, and test capabilities in cloud/on-premises environments.

Job description

NextGen Federal Systems is seeking a Chief Modeling, Simulation and Analysis (MS&A) Engineer to lead our engineering efforts in either Dayton Ohio, Aurora Colorado, or Huntsville Alabama.

Responsibilities
  • Serveas theLead MS&A Engineer responsible for defining the technical strategy, architecture, and analytical approach forsimulation andmission engineering activities.

  • Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams of systems engineers, modeling and simulation engineers, software engineers, and mission analysts.

  • Develop technical roadmaps andestablishMS&A priorities based on missionobjectives, customer requirements, and program decision needs.

  • Present analytical results, technical findings, trade studies, and recommendations to Government customers and program leadership.

  • EstablishMS&A best practices, includingmodeling priorities, analytical workflows,requiredtools, data, and enabling technologies.

  • Develop integrated MS&A workflows that connect system and subsystem models to evaluate end-to-end mission performance and system effectiveness.

  • Develop automated analytical workflows for scenario generation, model execution, data processing, optimization, visualization, and results assessment.

  • Applytools includingAnsys STK,Ansys Fluent,ModelCenter, Cameo Systems Modeler, MATLAB/Simulink, and other Government and commercial modeling and simulation tools.

  • Lead development ofmission-level and system-level models and simulations supporting missile, space, Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), and advanced weapon-system analysis.

  • Develop and integrate models supporting missile trajectories, engagement geometries, orbital mechanics, sensor performance, RF propagation, communications, EW, threat representation, and mission effectiveness.

  • Develop analytical mission threads addressing detection, tracking, targeting, engagement, intercept, battle management, and mission assessment.

  • Develop and integrate multidisciplinary models across domains including propulsion, guidance/navigation/control, aerodynamics, RF, radar, EO/IR, communications, EW, thermal, structures, and space systems.

  • Lead digital engineering activities in coordination withpartner SMEs

  • Lead trade-space exploration, sensitivity analysis, optimization, Monte Carlo analysis, and Design of Experiments (DOE) to evaluate alternative system architectures, technologies, and mission concepts.

  • Lead verification and validation of models and analytical workflows to ensure results are technically credible, repeatable, and suitable for engineering decision-making.

  • Overseea multi-tenanted digital engineering environment which integrates multiple COTS & GOTSmodeling, simulation, and analysis tools.

  • Define, design, and implement APIs, adapters, and interfacesrequiredto connect engineering models, simulations, data sources, and analytical tools.

  • Containerize, deploy, and test modeling and simulation capabilities within cloud and on-premises computing environments.

Requirements
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.

  • 10+ years of systems engineering, modeling and simulation, digital engineering, or mission engineering experience.

  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams performing missile, space, IAMD, aerospace, or weapon-system modeling and analysis.

  • Experience developing and executing system-level and mission-level simulations to support engineering decisions, architecture assessments, trade studies, and mission effectiveness analysis.

  • Experience in one or more of the following technical areas:

  • Missile trajectories and flight dynamics

  • Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC)

  • Missile engagement and intercept analysis

  • Satellites, orbital mechanics, and space mission analysis

  • Radar, RF, EO/IR, and sensor performance

  • Communications and data-link architectures

  • Integrated Air and Missile Defense

  • Command and Control / Battle Management

  • Threat and weapon-system performance

  • Experience performing trade studies, sensitivity analyses, optimization, Monte Carlo analysis, DOE, and mission effectiveness assessments.

  • Experience developing technical artifacts including requirements, CONOPS, mission threads, system architectures, analytical plans, interface definitions, test plans, and analysis reports.

  • Experience working within Agile software development andDevSecOpsengineering environments.

  • Experience collaborating across Government customers, system engineers, software developers, mission analysts, and modeling and simulation teams.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex analytical results to technical and Government leadership audiences.

  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.

Technical Qualifications
  • Experience integratingModelCenter, Ansys STK, MATLAB/Simulink, and/or equivalent engineering and MS&A tools.

  • Experience developing analytical automation using Python, C++, and/or Java.

  • Experience integrating engineering applications through APIs, data interfaces, messaging frameworks, and custom adapters.

  • Experience deploying modeling and simulation applications using Docker,Podman, Kubernetes, and cloud-based computing environments.

  • Ability to translate mission and system-level questions into Measures of Performance (MOPs), Measures of Effectiveness (MOEs), analytical experiments, and defensible engineering conclusions.

  • Ability to work closely with software and systems engineers to evolve the overall modeling and digital engineering architecture.

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting missile defense,hypersonics, strategic systems, space systems, IAMD, or advanced weapon-system programs.

  • Experience with STK Astrogator, STK Analyzer, and/or STK EOIR.

  • Experience with AFSIM or other mission-level constructive simulation environments.

  • Experience developing digital mission engineering workflows connecting MBSE, physics-based models, mission simulations, and analytical results.

  • Experience with model verification and validation, uncertainty quantification, and analytical credibility assessment.

  • Experience withHigh PerformanceComputing (HPC) or distributed execution of large-scale simulation campaigns.

  • Experience applying AI/ML to model development, simulation automation, surrogate modeling, optimization, or mission analysis.
