Job summary

WTVM-TV, part of Gray Media, is seeking a Chief Meteorologist to lead our weather team across East Alabama and West Georgia. You will confidently prepare and deliver forecasts, tell relatable weather stories on newscasts and digital platforms, and drive engaging graphics.

You will also engage with the community through school visits and public appearances, supervise a multi‑platform weather team, and help produce the daily Weather Extra streaming segment with the assignment desk and producers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in meteorology.
• 5+ years of broadcast meteorologist experience.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to lead a multi-platform weather team.
• Creative with graphic design and presentation.

Responsibilities

• Analyze weather data and prepare detailed forecasts.
• Prepare graphics to support weather presentations.
• Flexible schedule for severe weather events.
• Lead a team of meteorologists and oversee forecast accuracy.
• Produce daily Weather Extra and coordinate with producers and staff.
• Collaborate with news management on content and coverage for digital platforms.
