Job summary

Core Physicians, part of Exeter Health Resources and Beth Israel Lahey Health, seeks a Chief Medical Officer to provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership. The CMO will align clinical strategy with quality priorities, physician engagement, and growth initiatives while maintaining active clinical practice (0.2 cFTE).

Qualifications

• NH License; Medical Doctorate/DO and ABMS Board Certification required.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible medical administration and leadership experience.
• Experience in a medical group, community hospital, or in a dynamic health system environment.

Responsibilities

• Leads physician recruitment strategy across primary care, medical specialties, and surgical specialties to ensure adequate access and coverage.
• Partners with HR, service line leaders, and system recruitment teams to attract high-quality clinical talent.
• Develops and implements physician retention programs, including engagement initiatives, onboarding, mentorship, and professional development pathways.
• Monitors workforce trends, proactively addresses provider satisfaction, and ensures staffing models support quality, safety, patient experience, and financial performance.
• Leads physician engagement through organizational change, fostering alignment, communication, trust, and adoption of strategic initiatives.
• Directs performance in value-based contracts and alternative payment models to ensure quality outcomes and identify improvement opportunities.
• Defines organizational goals aligned with population health and value-based care success.
• Identifies and supports operationalization of population health initiatives and competencies across the system.
