Job Description

The Medical Dosimetrist is part of the radiation oncology team, specializing in radiation therapy treatment planning. Responsibilities include understanding cancer, radiation biology, physics, safety, anatomy, and mathematics to generate treatment plans. The role involves communicating plans to oncologists and therapists, maintaining accuracy, attention to detail, and safety, and applying critical thinking in treatment planning and equipment troubleshooting.

Minimum Qualifications

• Board eligible for the MDCB exam or 20 years of continuous experience as a Medical Dosimetrist.
• West Virginia criminal background check required; federal check if applicable.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current MDCB certification.
• Completion of an accredited medical dosimetry program (JRCERT).
• Three years of medical dosimetry experience.
• Experience with Varian Eclipse and ARIA systems.

Core Duties

• Data assembly, contouring, and image registration (CT, MRI, PET).
• Designing treatment plans with optimal beam geometry.
• Creating and transferring images and markers for verification.
• Supervising or assisting in simulations and tumor localization.
• Planning and assisting in fabrication of beam-modifying devices.
• Communicating treatment plans and strategies with the team.
• Maintaining accurate treatment data and calculations.
• Supporting radiation safety, quality assurance, and equipment calibration.
• Participating in quality improvement processes.
