Job summary

Child Mind Institute in New York, NY, is seeking a General Counsel to lead all legal matters for the organization. Qualifications

• Eight years of legal experience at a law firm and/or as in-house counsel.
• Licensed to practice law in New York.
• Executive leadership: Trusted advisor to senior leadership and the Board.
• Strategic judgment balancing immediate business needs with long-term goals.
• Integrity and strong professional judgment.
• Influence and diplomacy with diverse stakeholders.
• Negotiation of complex, high-stakes matters.

Responsibilities

• Counsel executive leadership and the Board on governance, regulatory compliance, and major transactions.
• Oversee corporate governance, board meetings, conflicts of interest, minutes, and policies.
• Collaborate on growth initiatives, including new business lines and international expansion.
• Act as chief compliance and risk officer on employment, IP, technology, fundraising, tax, privacy.
• Manage contract review, negotiation, templates, correspondence, and policies.
• Oversee insurance policies and renewals; manage filings and renewals.
• Direct management of outside counsel and pro bono relationships.
• Advise HR on employment matters and support regulatory compliance.
• Support Finance with audited financials and Form 990 filings.
• Counsel clinicians on family law and litigation; coordinate with regulatory inquiries.
