Job summary

Inferact Inc. is seeking its first in-house legal hire to provide immediate capacity across a growing set of legal workstreams and to personally execute on commercial agreements.

You will own key matters, coordinate with outside counsel, and build out Inferact's legal function while partnering with leadership, product, engineering, GTM, and operations to navigate open-source LLM inference space. This role offers a high-impact, hands-on opportunity at a fast-moving AI infrastructure startup with

Qualifications

• J.D. or equivalent with active bar admission and good standing in at least one jurisdiction.
• 6+ years of legal experience at a tech company, infrastructure or AI business, or a top law firm advising sophisticated tech clients.
• Experience building or scaling a legal function from 0 to 1, or as sole or first lawyer supporting a fast-growing company.
• Strong commercial contracting experience: ability to independently draft, negotiate, and close enterprise customer, cloud and compute vendor, partnership, and technology licensing agreements.
• Experience managing outside counsel efficiently with clear internal ownership and momentum.
• Hands-on execution mindset—comfortable drafting, reviewing, and negotiating in a technically complex startup.
• Strong business judgment, translating legal complexity into practical tradeoffs for leadership and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own key matters internally and coordinate with outside counsel across multiple workstreams.
• Build out and lead Inferact's legal function and serve as the primary point of contact for legal matters.
• Collaborate with leadership, product, engineering, GTM, and operations to align on strategy and risk.
• Navigate open-source LLM inference space and regulatory issues as applicable.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements with customers, vendors, and partners.
