About Savvy

Wealth management is a massive industry in the US ($545 billion annual revenue), but remains archaic and inefficient with low technology penetration. 75% of financial advisors do not offer any digital communication beyond emails and 62% of them conduct financial planning manually (for example, in Excel), resulting in a poor client experience and over 70% of a financial advisor’s time spent on non-client facing tasks.

Savvy is a digital-first platform for financial advisors centered around modernizing human financial advice. Financial advisors who partner with Savvy leverage the integrated technology platform to help supercharge growth with AI-powered software, sales and marketing automation, and back office workflows. Savvy’s proprietary technology empowers financial advisors to help scale revenue faster and spend more time focused on growth.

We are a team of former founders and operators who have started and sold two companies and have helped build iconic companies including Airbnb, Square, Carta, Facebook, and more.

We’ve raised $34M from top-tier VC firms, including Canvas Ventures, Thrive Capital, Index Ventures, Brewer Lane Ventures, The House Fund, and a panel of A-list founders & executives from the technology & wealth management industry.

Savvy is at a pivotal point in its growth trajectory, having established strong product-market fit by providing a modern platform to financial advisors. We’ve grown 700%+ in the last 12 months and are entering the next phase of the company, which involves rapid expansion of our product offering and revenue growth.

The Role

As we continue to scale, we are seeking our first Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to lead and shape the firm’s investment offerings. This is a foundational leadership role at a transformative moment in our growth.

The Chief Investment Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing the firm’s investment philosophy and portfolio strategies. This leader will drive client outcomes through thoughtful innovation across Savvy’s in-house investment offerings. In this highly cross-functional role, the CIO will work closely with our Advisory, Marketing, Product, and Operations teams and will represent the firm externally to various stakeholders, including clients and prospective advisors.

This role requires a blend of deep investment expertise, high-level strategic thinking, and the roll-up-your-sleeves mentality necessary in a startup environment. The ideal candidate is a resourceful, ambitious team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is ready to help build something from the ground up.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve the firm’s core investment philosophy and portfolio construction frameworks.
  • Develop scalable portfolios tailored to high net worth individuals, with sensitivity to tax efficiency, liquidity, and client preferences.
  • Drive client adoption of the firm's investment offerings.
  • Oversee investment research and due diligence on asset classes, strategies, and third-party managers.
  • Serve as the investment voice of the firm in client meetings & communications, media appearances, and prospective advisor discussions.
  • Partner with Marketing to ensure timely communications, quarterly webinars, short videos, and commentary regarding market and investment performance.
  • Partner with advisors to deliver high-impact investment narratives and support client acquisition and retention.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to build tools and systems that enable scalable investment implementation and reporting.
  • Lead the firm’s investment committee, and ensure ongoing alignment with fiduciary standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Stays abreast of industry trends and innovations and continuously look for opportunities to improve our client investment offerings.

Qualifications

Must have

  • 15+ years of experience in investment management, preferably with exposure to high net worth client segments.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing successful investment strategies and portfolios with meaningful client adoption.
  • Deep understanding of asset allocation, risk management, manager due diligence, and behavioral finance.
  • Familiarity with tax-aware investing, custom indexing, fixed income strategies, cash management solutions, alternatives, and private investments.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate complex investment concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • Strong understanding of the latest trends and providers within the asset management industry.
  • Experience representing an investment firm or platform in both internal and external stakeholder settings.
  • Strong alignment with a client-first, fiduciary standard of care.
  • CFA, MBA, or other relevant advanced degrees or credentials.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in a startup or fast-growing entrepreneurial environment.
  • Comfort working across cross-functional teams including Product, Marketing, Operations, Compliance, and Growth.
  • History of media appearances, demonstrating authority in financial markets.
