Job summary

DC Government's Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration (ABCA) seeks a Chief Investigator to lead the Enforcement Division’s investigations, inspections, and enforcement activities in DC. You will direct personnel, set priorities, and ensure compliance with District laws and board requirements.

The role involves coordinating with MPD, DPW, DOB, and other agencies, developing training, and planning the division's annual budget.

Qualifications

• Specialized experience in investigations, directing investigators, and collecting factual information.
• Experience as a supervisor in law enforcement or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs the planning, organization, staffing, direction, and evaluation of the Enforcement Division to ensure enforcement objectives and agency priorities are achieved.
• Coordinates enforcement activities with District agencies to facilitate joint enforcement efforts and address regulatory violations.
• Identifies training needs and develops training programs concerning alcohol and medical cannabis laws, investigative procedures, enforcement practices, de-escalation, communication, and customer service.
• Develops and proposes the Enforcement Division's annual operating budget based on program requirements, staffing needs, and priorities.
• Briefs agency leadership on enforcement activities, performance measures, and proposed enforcement initiatives.

Education

High school Diploma

Bachelor's Degree in Police Administration, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, or related field

Five years of law enforcement, or five years of regulatory, military, criminal, or administrative law experience
