Position Summary
TGH Aviation is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Chief Inspector to oversee all inspection and quality assurance activities within our FAA Part 145 Repair Station located in Auburn, California.
The Chief Inspector is responsible for ensuring all maintenance, repair, overhaul, and inspection activities comply with FAA regulations, EASA requirements, customer specifications, and company procedures. This leadership role manages inspection personnel, quality systems, documentation accuracy, calibration programs, and continuous improvement initiatives while promoting a culture of safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
This is a full-time, on-site position.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with FAA Part 145 regulations, Repair Station Manual (RSM), Quality Control Manual (QCM), and applicable customer and manufacturer requirements.
- Maintain current knowledge of FAA, EASA, and industry regulations, including Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), and technical data revisions.
- Interface with FAA representatives, auditors, customers, and regulatory agencies during audits and inspections.
- Inspection & Quality Oversight
- Oversee and perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of aircraft instruments, avionics, and related components.
- Verify all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with approved technical data and regulatory requirements.
- Review and approve maintenance releases, work orders, inspection reports, and return-to-service documentation.
- Monitor tooling, test equipment, and calibration systems to ensure compliance and traceability.
- Quality Assurance Program
- Manage the Repair Station’s quality assurance and inspection programs.
- Conduct internal audits and support corrective and preventive action initiatives.
- Investigate discrepancies, non-conformances, and quality-related findings to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.
- Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead, mentor, and support inspection personnel and quality staff.
- Provide training and guidance on inspection procedures, regulatory requirements, documentation practices, and quality standards.
- Promote a professional, safety-focused, and team-oriented work environment.
- Documentation & Recordkeeping
- Ensure accurate and complete maintenance, inspection, and calibration records are maintained.
- Oversee parts traceability and record retention in accordance with FAA and company requirements.
- Maintain compliance with all documentation and recordkeeping standards outlined in the RSM/QCM.
- Work closely with technicians, shop supervisors, engineering, customer service, and management to resolve technical and quality-related issues.
- Communicate inspection findings and compliance requirements clearly and effectively throughout the organization.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in aviation maintenance, inspection, or quality assurance within a Part 145 Repair Station or aerospace maintenance environment.
- Strong knowledge of FAA regulations, including FAR Part 145, Part 43, and related maintenance requirements.
- Experience interpreting maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, component maintenance manuals (CMMs), service bulletins, and technical data.
- Proven leadership experience supervising or coordinating inspection and quality activities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance or ERP tracking systems.
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and work in a shop environment as required.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment and random FAA/DOT drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Chief Inspector or Quality Manager in a Part 145 Repair Station strongly preferred.
- Experience with aircraft instruments, avionics, fuel management systems, or electromechanical components.
- Familiarity with FAA audits, corrective action programs, and calibration systems.
- ASQ certifications or other quality certifications are a plus.
