We are seeking to hire a Chief Information Security Officer. This individual contributor role reports to the CEO and can be based anywhere in North America, with full remote work support. Occasional travel within North America and internationally is expected for customer meetings, Board of Director engagements, and internal collaboration.

What you will be doing

1. Developing business-level security strategies and tactical plans
2. Driving Ayla’s ISO 27001 and ISO 27018 information security management systems
3. Managing Ayla’s internal Privacy Program, including acting as Data Protection Officer
4. Enhancing security visibility for Ayla’s IoT device manufacturers
5. Evaluating, selecting, and implementing AI tools for security
6. Promoting a security-first culture across all company sites, both US and international
7. Representing Ayla’s security interests in discussions with Customer CISOs, industry events, vendors, and internal teams (Product Management, Engineering, etc.)
8. Traveling as needed to visit teams locally and internationally

Required Skills & Experience

1. 10+ years of experience focused on security management roles
2. Expertise in enterprise risk management and technical control selection
3. Experience with monitoring controls and incident management programs
4. Knowledge of access control reviews and IT controls such as VPN, firewalls, PKI, and phishing simulations
5. Experience with Agile development processes like SCRUM
6. Security certifications: CISSP or CISA
7. Privacy certifications: CIPP/E, CIPM
8. Experience briefing senior executives and writing policy documents
9. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a scientific field

Desired Skills

1. Development experience
2. Familiarity with build systems like Jenkins, SonarQube, Make, CircleCI
3. Experience with static code analysis and software composition analysis tools
4. Unix/Linux administration knowledge
5. Database experience, including SQL
6. Proficiency with Postman and curl
7. Programming skills in Unix shell, C, Java, Ruby/Python
8. Additional privacy certification: CIPP/US
9. Experience briefing the board of directors
10. Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity or related field
