The organization works with state and local government agencies to deliver advisory services, technology implementation, program administration, and operational improvement that directly impact vulnerable populations.

Position Overview

The Chief Information Officer reports directly to the President and CEO and serves on the senior management team. As the firm’s senior-most technology executive, the CIO leads a corporate technology organization of approximately 100 professionals and is the trusted advisor and final point of decision on enterprise technology matters.

Because technology is central to how the firm delivers its solutions, the role more closely resembles a CIO at a technology or technology-enabled services company than a traditional back-office IT leader. The firm is seeking a leader who will build on a strong operational foundation while expanding the strategic impact of technology, including AI, proprietary solutions, and intellectual property.

Candidates based in the Boston area or the Northeast are preferred. The role includes regular travel to headquarters and other offices nationally.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and execute a technology strategy aligned with growth goals
• Serve as senior technology advisor to the CEO and leadership team
• Set enterprise technology standards and governance across business lines
• Drive adoption of new technologies that create competitive advantage
• Identify opportunities for proprietary technology and intellectual property
• Lead the firm’s AI function, strategy, and governance

Technology Operations & Infrastructure

• Oversee infrastructure, service desk, architecture, and enterprise systems
• Oversee software development across onshore and offshore teams
• Optimize technology investments and lead vendor management
• Manage technology risk, IT audits, and regulatory compliance
• Support RFP responses and lead technology integration for acquisitions

The successful candidate will bring

• 15+ years of technology leadership, including as CIO reporting to the CEO
• CIO experience at a technology or tech-enabled services company of similar scale
• Background serving education, health, or human services markets, or selling into state and local government, strongly preferred
• Experience with modern infrastructure, cloud, and offshore development teams
• Practical understanding of AI strategy and governance
• Financial, operational, M&A, RFP, and vendor management experience
• Collaborative, service-oriented leadership and strong presentation skills
• Bachelor’s in computer science, engineering, or related field; MBA preferred

The anticipated salary range is $350,000–$425,000, commensurate with experience, plus benefits.
