Job Duties

The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform include:

1. Supervising and training staff assigned to the Environmental Services Department
2. Planning and scheduling staff assignments; reassigning staff as needed to ensure work is completed and handle emergency cleaning projects
3. Inspecting buildings for compliance with cleaning program
4. Investigating complaints regarding unsatisfactory cleaning performance

Minimum Qualifications

Do you have professional housekeeping and supervisory experience? Mid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center is recruiting for the Chief Housekeeper 1 position to oversee their Environmental Services Department. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.

Minimum Qualifications include:

• 5 years of housekeeping work experience in a fully functioning housekeeping department in a healthcare or institutional setting, with 1 year of administrative or supervisory experience; or
• Executive Housekeepers Certificate from the International Housekeepers Association, Inc., and 3 years of housekeeping experience in a healthcare or institutional setting, with 1 year of administrative or supervisory experience.

OR

• Candidates from outside or within State Service considered for a competitive class appointment if reachable on the current eligible list.
• Candidates within State Service considered for transfer if they have one year of permanent service in an eligible title.
• In accordance with Civil Service Law, a non-competitive promotion examination may be conducted, with permanent appointment possible by promotion if minimum qualifications are met.
