U.S. Green Building Council seeks a Chief Growth Officer to lead global growth strategy, expanding brand awareness and adoption of USGBC & GBCI products and services. You will oversee a ~110-person global team and collaborate with executive leaders to maximize mission impact and revenue diversification.
The role requires extensive executive leadership, strategic growth experience, and strong stakeholder engagement across domestic and international markets, with hybrid work from Washington, DC.
As Chief Growth Officer, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by leading USGBC and GBCI’s global growth strategy to increase engagement, influence, and mission impact. In this role, you’ll own the planning, development, and execution of coordinated strategies that strengthen brand awareness and value, expand adoption of products and services, grow membership and partnerships, diversify revenue streams, and advance market transformation at scale.
You’ll report to the Chief Executive Officer and serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, working collaboratively with the CEO, Board of Directors, and leaders across the organization. You’ll oversee a global team of approximately 110 professionals across Market Development and Sales, Marketing & Communications, and Customer Success, and partner closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Products Officer, and Chief Impact Officer to maximize mission-related value from USGBC and GBCI products, programs, and services.
Minimum 15 years of experience in nonprofit or business growth, marketing, business development, sales, or a related discipline, including at least 5 years of executive-level leadership in a relevant role. Experience managing business operations across multiple domestic and international geographies and a diversified customer and employee base is required. Demonstrated success achieving business and sales goals; building and leading high-performing, diverse teams; scaling adoption through marketing, advocacy, and/or sales; developing enterprise product distribution strategy; and establishing mutually beneficial partnerships. Experience with key real estate segments and geographic markets relevant to USGBC and GBCI is required; international market experience is strongly preferred. Direct experience with department-level financial planning, budget development, resource planning, management, and analysis is required.
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

Final compensation and benefits will be confirmed at the time of offer and may vary based on factors such as internal equity, relevant experience, qualifications, and employment status. Please note that salary negotiations will not extend beyond the top of the internal salary range.
Location: This position is hybrid and based out of the Washington, DC headquarters. Washington, DC is the strongest location preference; other locations may be considered.
Work Schedule: Full-time, permanent, salaried, exempt. Hybrid schedule of in-office and remote work based on organizational policy, business need, and manager discretion.
Travel %: Approximately 25% domestic and international travel, including the annual Greenbuild conference, industry events, and stakeholder meetings and gatherings.
