UC San Diego is seeking a visionary Chief for the Division of Genomics and Precision Medicine in San Diego, CA. The role emphasizes leadership, strategic growth, and complex program oversight across translational and basic genomics research.

The appointee will secure external funding, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and mentor faculty while managing division operations and budget planning.

Qualifications

• PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree in genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience leading a clinical, translational, and/or basic research program with independent, extramurally funded research (e.g., NIH R01).
• MD/PhD candidates with clinical responsibilities must be board certified or board eligible and licensed or eligible for California medical license.

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership to UC San Diego's Division of Genomics and Precision Medicine and set strategic goals aligning with the department's mission.
• Drive cutting-edge genomics and precision medicine research and secure external funding from federal, state, and private sources.
• Develop and lead educational programs and mentor faculty, researchers, and trainees within the division.
• Manage the division's finances, budgets, recruitment, and representation in institutional meetings.
