Job summary

KBFS seeks a Chief Flight Instructor (Rotary Wing) to oversee helicopter flight and ground training at Tempe, AZ. The role leads initial proficiency checks, manages scheduling, and ensures compliance with FAA regulations for Private Pilot, Commercial Pilot, and Instrument Rating programs.

Ideal candidate has 10+ years in aviation, including 5 years RW experience, and holds a Commercial Pilot Certificate with current Class II Medical.

Qualifications

• Decades of aviation experience with rotary wing operations.
• Strong background in flight instruction and safety oversight.
• Familiarity with FAA 14 CFR parts 61, 91, 133 and 141.

Responsibilities

• Lead rotor-wing flight training to meet FAA cert requirements.
• Supervise instructors and manage scheduling and evaluations.
• Maintain regulatory conformance and safety programs.
• Interface with FAA FSDO on operations and safety issues.
• Develop training outlines and course materials.
