Chief Fireman-2nd Class sign on up to $8000

Department: HFH Maintenance

Days, 6:00am - 2:30pm, FT 40 hours

Scheduled Hours per Week: 40 hours

Under the direction of the Director, the Chief Fireman-2nd Class is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and repair of power plant boilers, pumps, auxiliary equipment, and water filter systems. The position requires scheduling power plant coverage 24/7 as mandated by state law.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Hold a Massachusetts 2nd class Engineering License and sign all necessary operating logs and regulatory compliance reports, including but not limited to DEQE, EPA, DEP, and risk insurance agencies.
• Manage steam load, calculate combustion efficiencies, water consumption, and steam production.
• Assist the Facility Director and Coordinator in preparing budgets and energy management reports.
• Oversee the chemical water treatment program for all hydronic systems.
• Perform combustion efficiency evaluations to determine fuel sources.
• Implement quality control measures for stored fuel to prevent contamination.
• Hold a licensed C operator certification for inground tanks.

EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCE:

• High School or Trade School diploma.
• Massachusetts Third Class Engineer License.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in steam power generation.
• Ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards.
• Thorough knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment and controls.
