Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This is an exciting leadership opportunity to join a mission-driven organization recognized for its innovation and impact in delivering critical services to underserved populations.
Position Overview:The CFO will be a key member of the executive leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Board of Directors. The successful candidate will be responsible for all financial operations, including accounting, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and contracts management. This leader will provide critical financial insight and direction to support strategic growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:Financial Management & Strategy- Lead the organization's financial strategy, planning, and analysis
- Oversee accounting, payroll, billing, and all core finance functions
- Ensure accuracy of financial statements and compliance with applicable regulations
- Manage audits, tax filings, and external financial relationships (banks, auditors, etc.)
- Support the financial needs of real estate holding entities and HUD-related reporting
Budgeting & Forecasting- Direct the annual budgeting process and long-term financial planning
- Monitor financial performance and provide timely analysis and reporting
- Collaborate with departments to ensure budget alignment with programmatic goals
Leadership & Board Engagement- Serve as a key advisor to the CEO and Board Finance Committee
- Present regular financial updates and insights to leadership and the board
- Lead, mentor, and develop a finance team of 8, promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
Operational & Strategic Impact- Support major initiatives such as program relocation, lease negotiations, and contract management
- Drive improvements in financial systems, processes, and cross-functional collaboration
- Play an active role in shaping organizational strategy and long-term sustainability
RequirementsIdeal Candidate Profile:- 15+ years of financial management experience, including 10+ years in senior leadership
- CPA, MBA, or equivalent advanced degree strongly preferred
- Experience in nonprofit, government-funded, or healthcare sectors highly desirable
- Demonstrated expertise in government contracting, audit management, and third-party revenue streams
- A collaborative leader with exceptional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both financial and non-financial stakeholders
- Strong analytical aptitude and the ability to manage complexity in a large, mission-driven organization
- A roll-up-the-sleeves leader who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment
