Premier is seeking a strategic Chief Financial Officer to lead the Finance Department, drive sustainable growth, and optimize reimbursement across Hospital Medicine, Critical Care, Infectious Disease, Post-Acute Care, Psychiatry, and future lines.

The CFO will oversee accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and financial operations, reporting to the Executive Leadership Team and guiding capital planning and strategic growth initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree required; MBA/MHA/Finance/Accounting preferred.
  • CPA strongly preferred; 10+ years of healthcare finance leadership.
  • Experience with physician-owned groups, MSOs, or multi-specialty physician organizations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in RCM, payer contracting, insurance strategy, financial planning, and enterprise risk management.

Position Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a member of the Executive Leadership Team responsible for developing and executing the organization's financial strategy, driving sustainable growth, optimizing reimbursement, strengthening enterprise risk management, and supporting operational excellence across Hospital Medicine, Critical Care, Infectious Disease, Post-Acute Care, Psychiatry, and future service lines. The CFO provides strategic leadership of the Finance Department and oversees the organization's accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and finance operations through the Senior Director of Finance.

Executive Leadership
  • Serve as a strategic financial advisor to the Managing Partners, physician partners, and executive leadership.
  • Develop and execute the organization's long-term financial strategy.
  • Lead financial planning to support acquisitions, hospital partnerships, new service lines, and geographic expansion.
  • Present financial performance, forecasts, dashboards, and strategic recommendations to managing partners, physician partners and executive leadership.
  • Partner with Operations leadership to align financial strategy with operational priorities and organizational goals.
  • Ensure managing partners, physician partners and executive leadership receive timely, accurate, and meaningful financial reports, dashboards, forecasts, and analyses to support strategic decision-making.
  • Interpret financial and operational data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, and provide strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
Finance Department Leadership
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Finance Department through the Senior Director of Finance, ensuring the effective execution of all accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, internal controls, and day-to-day finance operations.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and performance oversight to the Senior Director of Finance while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional development across the Finance Department.
Revenue Cycle Management (RCM)
  • Serve as the executive liaison with the organization's outsourced Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) partner.
  • Provide executive oversight of the RCM partner to optimize coding, billing, collections, denials management, reimbursement, and overall revenue cycle performance.
  • Develop and oversee key Revenue Cycle KPIs, including Days in A/R, Net Collection Rate, Gross Collection Rate, Clean Claim Rate, First Pass Resolution Rate, Denial Rate, Charge Lag, Cash Collections, Aging by Payer, and Provider Productivity.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews with the RCM partner, establish accountability measures, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate RCM performance and recommend process improvements, technology enhancements, or vendor changes to maximize reimbursement, improve collections, reduce denials, and shorten Accounts Receivable (A/R) days.
Managed Care Contracting & Payer Strategy
  • Lead commercial and governmental payer contracting strategy and negotiations.
  • Negotiate favorable in-network agreements and reimbursement rates.
  • Analyze reimbursement methodologies and payer contract language.
  • Monitor reimbursement trends and recommend contracting strategies that maximize profitability.
  • Partner with consultants, legal counsel, and executive leadership during payer negotiations and contract development.
  • Identify and evaluate new payer contracting opportunities that support the organization's strategic growth and market expansion.
Insurance & Enterprise Risk Management
  • Develop the organization's medical malpractice insurance strategy, including broker selection, coverage evaluation, claims analysis, and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee general liability, workers’ compensation, and other corporate insurance programs.
  • Develop enterprise risk management strategies that minimize organizational risk while optimizing insurance coverage and overall program costs.
Financial Strategy & Planning
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, long-range financial planning, cash flow management, treasury, banking relationships, financing, capital planning, and overall financial stewardship.
  • Leverage executive dashboards, KPIs, and business analytics to drive financial strategy, operational performance, and organizational decision-making.
  • Translate financial data into actionable operational recommendations.
Financial Systems & Technology
  • Evaluate and optimize financial systems, reporting platforms, business analytics tools, automation technologies, and other solutions that improve financial operations, reporting, and organizational efficiency.
Physician & APP Compensation Strategy
  • Develop physician and APP compensation strategies and productivity models.
  • Partner with the Senior Director of Finance to evaluate wRVUs, collections, quality metrics, and market benchmarks.
  • Partner with Human Resources and legal counsel to develop and standardize physician and APP compensation structures, employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, and incentive programs.
Vendor & Consultant Management
  • Provide executive oversight of key financial and strategic vendors, including RCM partners, banking institutions, insurance brokers, auditors, consultants, and financial service providers.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate agreements that maximize organizational value, service quality, and financial performance.
Practice Growth & Operations
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Support physician recruitment, workforce planning, staffing models, scheduling, and operational initiatives through financial analysis.
  • Evaluate potential acquisitions, joint ventures, and hospital service agreements.
Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare financial regulations, including Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer requirements, Stark Law, the Anti-Kickback Statute, and Fair Market Value (FMV) requirements.
  • Master's degree (MBA, MHA, Finance, Accounting, or related field) required.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive healthcare finance leadership experience.
  • 5+ years serving in a CFO, Vice President of Finance, or equivalent executive finance leadership role.
  • Experience serving physician-owned medical groups, MSOs, or multi-specialty physician organizations required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in RCM, payer contracting, insurance strategy, financial planning, physician compensation, strategic growth, enterprise risk management, and healthcare operations.
