Job summary

Magee Technologies (MTech) seeks a seasoned Chief Financial Officer to shape the company’s financial strategy and lead all FP&A, accounting, risk management, and regulatory compliance within a government contracting environment.

As CFO, you will drive strategic growth, optimize profitability, and ensure DCAA/FAR/CAS compliance while partnering with program management, contracts, and operations to support DoD projects and aerospace initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA/CMA/MBA preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience with 5+ years in management.
  • Government contracting finance experience in Aerospace & Defense preferred.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling skills.
  • Proficiency with Deltek Costpoint or equivalent ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication with executives, auditors, and government agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic leadership of finance function, GAAP and government compliance.
  • Oversee accounting operations, payroll, AP/AR, and financial reporting.

Impact Summary:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for shaping and executing the company’s financial strategy to drive sustainable growth, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance. The CFO will lead the organization’s financial strategy and functions including accounting, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), risk management, and maintain regulatory compliance within a government contracting environment, including Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements. The CFO is responsible for maintaining the organization’s financial integrity while enabling growth and competitiveness in the aerospace and defense industry.

Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
  • Partner with the President to develop and execute the company’s long-term strategic plan.
  • Provide financial insights to support decision-making, growth initiatives, and new business opportunities.
Financial Management & Reporting
  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, month and year-end process, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, fixed asset reconciliations, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes.
  • Monitor cash flow, profitability, and financial performance metrics.
  • Provide financial leadership across departments, ensuring alignment with contracting, program management, including payroll and federal and state taxes.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and develop financial reports and presentations for executive leadership, investors, and government stakeholders.
Government Contracting Compliance
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles to ensure audit readiness for DCAA, DCMA and other government entities.
  • Oversee and manage DCAA-compliant accounting systems, ensuring adherence to FAR, DFARS, and CAS regulations.
  • Oversee incurred cost submissions, forward pricing rate proposals, and audit readiness.
  • Serve as a primary contact for DCAA, DCMA, and external auditors during pre-award, post-award, and incurred cost audits.
Contracts & Program Finance
  • Collaborate with program managers to monitor contract performance, cost control, and profitability.
  • Partner with contracts, procurement, and operations teams to develop pricing strategies, cost controls, and financial policies.
  • Support pricing strategies, bid proposals, and contract negotiations.
  • Ensure alignment between financial planning and program execution.
  • Manage Indirect Rate Management, including Overhead, G&A, and Cost Pool allocations, ensuring accuracy in ICE submissions.
  • Lead finance and accounting staff to ensure compliance with regulations, as well as ensuring high performance and professional development.
Risk Management & Internal Controls
  • Develop and maintain effective internal control systems and financial policies.
  • Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee and manage corporate insurance, bonding, and financial risk management activities for state, federal and contractual compliance.
  • Provide financial risk management in compliance with GAAP and government contract accounting standards.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing finance team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Competencies:
  • Expertise in government contract accounting, including FAR, DFARS, CAS, and DCAA compliance.
  • Advanced proficiency with Deltek Costpoint or comparable financial management system.
  • Extensive experience in indirect rate structures, incurred cost submissions, and financial reporting for DoD contracts.
  • Advanced knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling in an aerospace & defense environment.
  • Experience with audit preparation, regulatory compliance, and cost proposal development.
  • Strong analytical and strategic decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial data effectively to executive leadership and government agencies.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational discipline.
  • Effective leadership and team management capabilities.
Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required; CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience required, and at least 5+ years managing teams.
  • Prior experience in government contracting finance within the Aerospace & Defense industry, preferred.
  • Strong background in DCAA-compliant accounting, FAR, CAS, contract pricing, and financial management for DoD programs.
  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to scale financial operations in a growing organization.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
  • High-level attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Expert with financial systems and ERP platforms; Deltek Costpoint or related financial software required.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with executives, auditors, and government agencies.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Salary Information:

The estimated salary for this position begins at $180,000 + annually based on the successful candidates experience, qualifications, skill set, work location, and market conditions. Pay and Benefits are subject to change at any time and may be modified at the discretion of the company.
