Job summary

IJM seeks a seasoned Chief Financial Officer to guide global financial strategy and steward resources for growth and impact. You will lead a spiritually grounded finance team, align budgets with program outcomes, and report across Global Leadership and Audit committees.

The role requires a decade of strategic financial leadership, nonprofit expertise, and strong partnerships with senior leaders. Expect global collaboration and accountability for risk, controls, and cash management.

Qualifications

Graduate degree in business management or equivalent with substantial leadership experience.

Responsibilities

Serve as a key strategist and trusted advisor on IJM’s Global Leadership Team.
Steward IJM’s global financial resources and align financial strategy with program impact, growth, and long-term sustainability.
Build and develop a high-performing, spiritually grounded global finance team.
Advise the COO on fiscal health, budget performance, cash flow, investments, and controls.
Recruit, manage, develop, and inspire the finance team.
Collaborate across divisions and provide objective financial perspective on multi-divisional projects.
Prepare for Finance, Administration and Audit Committee meetings and provide committee updates.
Establish budgetary policies, strategic milestones, and financial/operational metrics.
Develop forecasts and analysis, identify risks/opportunities, and drive corrective actions.
Provide consolidated global, regional, and local financial reporting.
Oversee payroll, expense reimbursement, partner payments, and supplier payments.
Strengthen financial systems and enhance IJM’s ERP system.
Maintain internal controls and accounting compliance, revenue recognition, asset controls, and retention.
Manage external audits, NICRA audits, statutory filings, and tax filings.
Develop treasury strategies, manage cash flow/reserves, investments, debt, and global funds flows.
Create and maintain global financial policies and standardized processes.
Train and cross-train Finance staff.
Participate in IJM’s community of spiritual formation.

Requirements

Graduate degree in business management, or equivalent combination of bachelor's degree and relevant work experience
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in strategic financial leadership, including leadership and management of a business unit of $50 million or more in annual revenue
Demonstrated success in building successful internal partnerships with key executives
Demonstrated success achieving aggressive and sustained enterprise growth and taking operations to scale
Demonstrated success in leading the development of global processes and design and implementation of global systems
Demonstrated success in building and leading diverse teams
Expertise in enterprise-wide financial strategy, multi-year planning, capital allocation, and scenario modeling
Knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards, fund accounting, restricted and unrestricted revenue management, and donor restrictions preferred
Experience managing federal and institutional grant portfolios, NICRA negotiations, indirect cost recovery, grant revenue recognition, and donor requirements
Expertise in global funds flow management, foreign currency risk, cash forecasting, investment portfolio oversight, and credit facilities
Command of internal control frameworks, risk-based audit programs, and financial governance
Experience implementing, enhancing, or optimizing ERP systems
Familiarity with multi-jurisdictional statutory filing requirements, tax compliance, and audit management
Ability to translate complex financial data into decision-ready insights
Experience developing organizational strategy
Current authorization to work in the United States; visa sponsorship unavailable
Mature Christian faith and ability to lead others in Christian spiritual formation
Confident public speaking and superb written and verbal communication skills
