Role Description

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a full-time, remote role responsible for overseeing the financial strategy and health of Top-Notch Bookkeeping LLC. This role includes managing financial planning and budgeting, monitoring cash flow, and guiding long-term financial decision-making to support sustainable growth. The CFO will review and interpret financial statements and reports, ensure compliance with relevant regulations, and maintain robust internal controls. Day-to-day tasks involve partnering with leadership on pricing models and service profitability, analyzing financial performance and risks, and presenting clear financial insights to support strategic and operational decisions. The CFO will also contribute to process improvement, support technology and systems optimization, and help nurture strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Finance and Financial Planning, with the ability to develop budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial strategies.


• Proficiency in Financial Statements and Financial Reporting, including preparing, reviewing, and interpreting reports for internal and external stakeholders.


• Advanced Analytical Skills to assess financial performance, identify trends, manage risk, and recommend data-informed decisions.


• Experience working with or supporting small organizations, churches, or nonprofits, ideally with knowledge of fund accounting or similar frameworks.


• High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to accurate, transparent financial management.


• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly to non-financial audiences.


• Comfort working in a remote environment, with reliable technology skills and experience using cloud-based accounting platforms (QuickBooks Online experience preferred).


• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, or CFA are a plus.


• Leadership experience in a senior finance role, including developing processes, mentoring team members, and collaborating with executive leadership.
