PE-Backed Commercial Services Platform | Remote (Western U.S.)
Taltran Global has been exclusively retained to find the first Chief Financial Officer for a high-performing, private equity-backed commercial facility services business. It is at the start of a buy-and-build growth strategy.
The Company
Our client provides mission-critical commercial refrigeration and HVAC maintenance and repair for national multi-site brands across the Western U.S. It is a lower-middle-market business with more than two decades of operating history, and it has grown double digits every year without a single acquisition. It has highly recurring revenue, best-in-class margins, a clean balance sheet and an exceptionally loyal customer base. A growth-focused private equity firm recently partnered with the founding team, and they plan to scale the business significantly through organic growth and acquisitions over the coming years.
Why This Role
- First CFO, early in the hold. This is a build opportunity, not a turnaround. The books are clean and well run.
- Strong economics. The business has highly profitable, recurring revenue, strong free cash flow and minimal capital intensity.
- Real M&A runway. The company operates in a specialized niche with far less competition for acquisitions than the broader HVAC market.
- A seat at the table. You'll be a true partner to the CEO and work closely with the sponsor and board heading into the next transaction.
- People-first culture. The company is remote-first and casual, with long-standing profit sharing and strong employee tenure.
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee financial reporting, including monthly sponsor financial reviews and quarterly board materials.
- Lead tax, treasury and capital investments, including business cases for strategic growth investments such as new branches.
- Develop, manage and drive action on KPIs, acting as the CEO's commercial co-pilot to turn the numbers into decisions.
- Create and lead budgeting, forecasting, 13-week cash flow and long-range planning.
- Create value through pricing, cost and productivity analyses.
- Oversee back-office functions, including insurance and benefits, legal, IT and outsourced vendors (billing, accounting).
- Interface with lenders and provide appropriate reporting.
- Assist in M&A diligence and lead back-office integration of acquired businesses.
- Prepare for exit (sell-side QoE, data room, etc.) and participate in management meetings.
