Job description

Our client is a fast-growing, private-equity-backed accounting and tax services platform built around a simple thesis: bring institutional-quality financial and advisory services to growing businesses in markets across the Pacific Northwest and Mountain West. The company has been accelerating an ambitious buy-and-build strategy, with several transactions already under LOI and significant additional M&A planned over the next 12-24 months.

As the company scales from a founder-led group of firms into a professionally managed, multi-location platform, it is hiring its first true Chief Financial Officer. This is a highly visible, builder’s role: you will take ownership of the entire finance and accounting function, partner directly with the CEO and the company’s private equity sponsor, and put in place the reporting, forecasting and operational discipline that will underpin the company’s continued growth and eventual exit. This is not a caretaker or short-term “exit CFO” assignment — it is an opportunity to build a function and a career alongside a platform still early in its growth trajectory.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Take full ownership of the finance and accounting function. This includes invoicing and financial reporting through operational decision support, board materials and lender reporting.
  • Build the reporting infrastructure the company needs to scale: standardized processes, a consistent operating rhythm, and one reliable, single source of truth for financial performance across all locations.
  • Lead FP&A: budgeting, forecasting, KPI development, dashboards and long-range planning, turning a high volume of operating data into clean, actionable management information.
  • Serve as the company’s primary financial voice to its private equity sponsor and the Board — preparing board packs, lender and bank reporting, and investor-grade financial analysis.
  • Assess the current finance team’s capabilities and build a credible plan for the talent and infrastructure needed as the company continues to scale.
  • Partner closely with the CEO and corporate development on the company’s active M&A pipeline, including diligence support and post-close integration of acquired firms onto common systems and reporting standards.
  • Identify and help capture value-creation opportunities beyond M&A — including utilization, realization, partner economics, and scaling newer service lines such as Client Advisory Services.
  • Build trusted, credible working relationships with the firm’s CPA partners and practice leaders, earning buy-in for greater financial discipline and accountability while respecting the firm’s professional-services culture.
DEGREE

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred.

PRIOR EXPERIENCE
  • Prior experience working inside a private-equity-backed company is required.
  • Experience as a CFO, or as a strong #2 (VP Finance, Controller, or Head of FP&A) ready to step into a first CFO seat.
  • A track record operating in multi-entity, multi-location, acquisition-led (“buy-and-build”) environments.
  • Deep FP&A fluency - budgeting, forecasting, KPI design, dashboarding and long-range planning - paired with genuine comfort operating in the underlying data yourself.
  • Direct experience preparing board-level materials, lender/bank reporting, and investor-grade financial analysis.
  • A hands-on, player-coach approach: comfortable rolling up your sleeves in a lean, fast-growing organization rather than operating purely at a strategic remove.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the presence and credibility to earn trust from experienced practice partners and to represent the company confidently to the Board and to its private equity sponsor.
  • Broadly 10+ years of overall career experience with demonstrated leadership.
  • Background in accounting, legal services, wealth management, insurance brokerage, staffing, managed services, or another people-intensive professional-services business is strongly preferred.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to the company’s locations across the Pacific Northwest and Mountain West corridor.
