Job summary

Heritage Federal Credit Union is seeking a strategic Chief Financial Officer to guide accounting, finance, treasury, budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory reporting. You will partner with the CEO and Board to drive long-term financial success and prudent risk management.

The role leads ALM, liquidity management, and capital planning while ensuring GAAP compliance and accurate financial insights for executive decision-making. Indiana-based, with a focus on community growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
• 12–18 years of progressive leadership experience in banking/credit union.
• Executive-level experience in accounting, finance, treasury and enterprise strategy.
• Strong financial reporting and GAAP expertise.
• Experience with ALM, liquidity management, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with organizational goals and growth.
• Advise CEO, executive team and Board on financial strategy, performance and risk.
• Lead financial analysis for investments, budgeting and business expansion decisions.
• Maintain a three-year accounting and finance roadmap with key initiatives.
• Oversee accounting, reporting, systems, data integrity, GAAP compliance.
• Deliver accurate financial statements, regulatory reports and dashboards.
• Direct budgeting, forecasting, planning, profitability analysis and cost control.
• Manage treasury, liquidity, capital, investments, borrowing and ALM strategies.
• Ensure liquidity contingency planning and regulatory compliance (NCUA, GAAP).
• Interface with regulators, auditors and external partners.

Heritage Federal Credit Union is seeking a strategic and collaborative Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive leadership team. The CFO provides leadership and oversight of the credit union's accounting, finance, treasury, investments, budgeting, forecasting, asset-liability management, liquidity, and financial reporting functions while helping drive the organization's long-term strategic success.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and execute financial strategies that support organizational goals, growth initiatives, and long-term financial performance.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, executive leadership team, and Board of Directors on financial strategy, performance, and risk management.
• Participate in executive committees and lead financial analysis to support strategic decision-making, investments, and business expansion.
• Maintain a three-year Accounting & Finance roadmap encompassing projects, systems, and key initiatives.
• Oversee all accounting, financial reporting, financial systems, and data integrity functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Provide accurate financial statements, regulatory reporting, executive dashboards, and actionable performance insights.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, profitability analysis, and operational efficiency initiatives.
• Direct treasury, liquidity, capital, investment, borrowing, and asset-liability management (ALM) strategies to optimize financial performance and manage risk.
• Ensure appropriate liquidity management, contingency funding readiness, and compliance with NCUA, GAAP, and other applicable regulations.
• Serve as the primary liaison with regulators, auditors, and external financial partners.
• Oversee enterprise financial risk management, including interest rate, credit, and liquidity risk.
• Present financial results, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to the Board of Directors.
• Support development of financial products, services, and business lines, and negotiate key vendor contracts to protect the credit union's financial interests.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• Master's degree and CPA preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 12-18 years of progressive leadership experience in the banking or credit union industry.
• Executive-level experience leading accounting, finance, treasury, and enterprise financial strategy.
