Inspiration Field is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead the finance department, manage budgeting, and ensure GAAP compliance. The role reports to the CEO and works with IT, QE, and audits to drive financial integrity and informed decision-making.
The CFO will prepare monthly financials, oversee grants, and develop long-range financial projections while aligning with agency policies and program needs in a complex nonprofit setting.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for overall financial operations of the agency, including: accounts payable, account receivable, preparation of financial statements, compliance and financial analysis, development and maintenance of annual budget, and long-range financial projections.Responsibilities include staff training and supervision and the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural issues and documents. The Chief Financial Officer must keep current on all laws, regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to the assigned areas of supervision, and should communicate this information to management and staff when appropriate. The Chief Financial Officer is also responsible for oversight of the agency’s Finance department, Information Technology, Quality Enhancement (QE), internal investigations, grant writing, government relations work, Belleview Apartment Complex, and other assigned departments or business enterprises (as needed), while focused on a person-centered environment. The Chief Financial Officer must exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of job duties.

Minimum: This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Accounting or Finance AND a minimum of two years of demonstrated technical accounting and financial management experience AND one year of demonstrated supervisory experience or an Associate’s Degree and a minimum of four years of demonstrated technical accounting and financial management experience and one year of demonstrated supervisory experience. Proficient in GAAP in both for-profit and non-profit areas. Computer knowledge and experience with word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs. Must be at least 18 years of age. Persons hired into this position must be licensed drivers and have reliable transportation. If current license is from out-of-state, a valid Colorado Driver’s License is required within ten days of hire. Background check, drug and alcohol check, reference check, and motor vehicle checks must be passed. Current motor vehicle insurance is required. Driving is an essential job duty. Must be willing to relocate within 30 miles of La Junta, CO within 90 days.
Preferred: Non-profit accounting experience is preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly sit, walk, and stand. Occasionally, movement that requires twisting at the neck and/or trunk more than the average person, squatting/ stooping/kneeling, reaching above the head, and forward motion will be required. The employee will continuously be required to repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times. Manual and finger dexterity are essential to this position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, depth perception and telling differences among colors. The employee must be able to communicate through speech with co-workers and public. Hearing requirements include conversation in both quiet and noisy environments. The employee will occasionally lift and/or push and pull up to 50 pounds. Lifting may require floor to waist, waist to shoulder, or shoulder to overhead movement. This position demands tolerance for various levels of stress.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Working conditions normally involves inside environments. This position requires working irregular or extended work hours.
Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos. Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, manuals, or governmental regulations. Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, managers, employees, individuals, individual’s parents, and/or the general public is required.
Able to apply basic mathematical skills to include concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and provide necessary reports as needed.
Able to deal with problems involving a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations. Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for direct supervision of assigned administrative staff with responsibility for hiring, discipline, performance reviews, initiating pay increases, etc. The Chief Financial Officer will train and manage assigned administrative staff and supervise/coordinate all related administrative activities. The Chief Executive Officer provides supervision of this position. In general, this position requires that the individual work independently approximately 95% of the time.
Able to work with others, with system issues, and able to work within designated time frames. Patience in dealing with staff, individuals in service, and parents. Able to develop effective working relationships with staff, individuals in service, and the community. Good communication skills and able to work with others as a team is a must. Able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Able to perform duties in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
